SEPTEMBER FAVOURITES

How fast is 2019 going đŸ˜± I swear it was only March like two weeks ago. For me when September rolls around, I think of the increasing number of nice spring days, longer daylight, the AFL grand final and gosh darn allergies đŸ€§. So here are my top ten things for the month of September:

Designer Brands Cosmetics Get Glowing Pressed Mineral Bronzer

I've not been lucky over the last two months with a few illnesses so have had to visit the pharmacy multiple times (that's the drugstore for you US folk). While waiting for scripts to be filled, I peruse the makeup... which I then end up buying things I don't really need #impulsepurchase . While on one of these pharmacy trips, I discovered the new Designer Brands Get Glowing Pressed Mineral Bronzer. It comes in three shades; two matte and one shimmery. The one I picked up is the lighter matte shade in Barcelona Bronze. I LOVE this bronzer. It is quite light but that is what is good about it. You can't really stuff up or make yourself look bad. As it is on the cooler side, I have been using this as a contour my cheeks and nose. I am kicking myself that I didn't pick up the shimmery version of this so I will try to hunt one down on my next pharmacy visit. You can pick up this bronzer from either the Designer Brand's website or from most pharmacies for $12.99.

Morphe M523 Tapered Powder Brush

Way back when in 2015 while watching Jaclyn Hill mention her brush favourites on YouTube, she said she uses this Morphe M523 Tapered Powder Brush to contour. Because Jaclyn used this brush, I needed to use this brush too 😂 . At the time everyone was using the NARS Ita Kabuki or those specific contour brushes that would give you the drag-queen-straight-line-chiselled look so to see that Jaclyn was recommending a different brush intrigued me. I could see why she raved about it. Due to the fact the brush is tapered and has natural bristles, it applies your contour so seamlessly and looks airbrushed. I use this all the time since I've purchased it so it isn't a "new" favourite, but as I have been using it with the DB bronzer mentioned above, I've fallen even more in love with this guy. Also, it is timely as Morphe is now stocked at Mecca so no more needing to pay and wait for international shipping!! This brush will set you back $23.

Nutra Organics Collagen Beauty Skin Hair Nails

I am on a continuing journey to stay young looking and feeling my best and realise this starts from the inside out. Which means I take a number of vitamins and supplements daily of which Collagen has been part of my daily routine for a while now. At the end of August I only started to use the Nutra Organics Collagen Beauty Skin Hair Nails and have continued to use it throughout September (so for a solid six weeks now). I have started to see a real difference in my skin and nails. My skin seems to be a lot clearer and looks more radiant. I have also noticed that my nails are not breaking or chipping like they usually would! I pop 1 tablespoon of this powder in my morning shake or in my coffee and because it is unflavoured you can't even taste it which is what I love about it. I have about a third left in the tub and will definitely be repurchasing this. You can pick it up from a number of online supplement stores, or from any vitamin place near you for approximately $29.95.

Katy Perry's Indi Eau De Parfum

I usually wear a different scent day to day depending on my mood... but in September I noticed I kept reaching for Katy Perry's Indi Eau De Parfum. I bought mine when it first came out about 18 months ago and have never really given it the attention it deserved till last month. My describing of fragrances is appalling so I apologise in advance if I butcher this. From most of the sites that I have been to, it says that this perfume is a "One-of-a-kind musk fragrance that helps to elevate the senses. Created with eleven different musks, fresh white tea, Italian bergamot and white cedarwood scent" (Source - Influenster.com). It smells so springy and flowery without being too sickly sweet or clean smelling. Plus it is now heavily reduced at Chemist Warehouse for $16.99 which makes it even more alluring. Also how chic does the packaging look?!

Kmart Body Massage Brush

Now that winter has passed, I'm on a mission to stop my legs looking like a dry scaley lizard đŸ€Ł . While I have kept on top of moisturising my body over winter, I notice I still have flaking skin. I've heard things about dry brushing before but never thought much about it. So when I gave it a go, I was shocked about how much flaky skin came off me but also impressed at how "fresh" and "zingy" I felt afterwards. I believe that this is due to blood circulating throughout the body which assists in lymphatic drainage. You could get fancy pants brushes from spas or expensive retailers, but I just picked up this one from Kmart for $9. All that you need to remember is to dry brush in the morning (not at night), always brush towards your heart or centre of your body, don't be too rough as you might scratch yourself and moisturise your body afterwards. I haven't been the best in doing this religiously every day, but as it is starting to warm up and be less antarctic like in the mornings, I will be more inclined to do this. There are also claims that it helps with cellulite BUT no "official" proof can be obtained, but hey it doesn't hurt to continue and see right?! đŸ€·đŸ»

Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi Shine Lip Laquer

Over the years of me watching copious amounts of beauty videos on YouTube, I swear that the words "Marc Jacobs Enamoured Hi Shine Lip Laquer in the shade 'Suga-Suga'" is mentioned soooo many times. It appears to be a favourite of a number of YouTubers. Earlier this year when placing an online Sephra order, I decided to pop it in my cart to see what the hype is about. Firstly I must say that this lipgloss ain't cheap. While it isn't the most expensive gloss in the world, it is still a whopping $42. However, I love it and am happy to pay this price for the product you are getting. It's thick without being gloopy or gluggy. It lasts well on the lips considering it is a lipgloss. My lips aren't dry afterwards (so many lip glosses make my lips seem drier). The colour is a flattering light nude-y pink with some sparkle but not chunky monkey glitter. It also has an amazing fresh minty scent. I can see now what all the fuss is about in regards to this gloss and in particular this colour.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

If you have been following me for a while, you would have noticed I change my skincare products daily like I do my undies đŸ€Ł The main reason is that I have too many products and to stop them from being wasted I try to use them equally. However, when I'm asked about my thoughts on a product, it does make it hard to give honest feedback as I don't use the product long enough to give it a fair chance which I do always disclose. Around the middle of August, I decided to start using a few skincare products exclusively every day, which The Ordinary's Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% was one. It's been a solid seven weeks now of use and boy oh boy have I seen some changes. I have noticed a decrease in texture, my pores seem less noticeable and I have had nowhere near as many breakouts. I've read that to see the full benefits of Niacinamide is around the 12-week mark so will continue to use this every morning. I must advise that on some mornings I have double-serumed (applied this serum with another serum) so that I continue to use up some of my other skincare. If you've not heard of TO (that's The Ordinary for short), you can pick it up from Priceline or Myer as well as from a number of online sites. This bottle will set you back $9.90 which is amazingly cheap!

Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder

Ahhhhh, the area that contains those little mini travel-sized items that have been strategically placed near the checkout/cashier of a shop so that when you wait in line, you end up buying them on impulse. Well, that is how this next favourite came into my life. Enter the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder in the mini size for $29 (the full-sized is $70) from Mecca. In the world of translucent setting powders I only really hear people rave about Laura Mercier or Hourglass, so when I saw this little guy, I thought I would give him a go. Now I only use it to set my under eye concealer and nothing else. It sounds a little bougie or fussy to just have it for that area of my face, but here is the reason why. It has a slight sheen almost fine highlight within the powder, so the light bounces off which helps to counteract the dark circles I may have peeping through. Also with the powder being so finely milled, it sits well under my eyes and doesn't seem to emphasise my fine lines or settle in any creases. Being normal/combo skin, I am less inclined to use this on my face as I prefer a more matte finish. However, if you are normal to dry or just love a dewy look, give this powder a go for all over your face. I have almost finished this travel-sized powder so will most likely pull the trigger on buying the full-sized 😬.

Bondi Sands Glo Matte One Day Tan

Recently I had a social doo that was fancy dress, so I went as Cleopatra. Now from my recollection, Cleopatra lived in the desert so I doubt she was as ghostly đŸ‘» as what I am at the moment. So rather than going through the routine of applying fake tan, I went and bought the Bondi Sands Glo Matte One Day Tan from Priceline for $17.99. This stuff is amazing! It is almost like makeup for your body. It isn't greasy and dries pretty fast. It gives a blurring almost airbrushed effect on my skin and has a nice natural tan colour. I even applied a few layers to build up the coverage without it going blotchy or patchy. I've only used it a few times since but already love it. I can honestly see myself using this a lot throughout summer and will even go and buy the shimmer version for those days that I want the sparkle plus the tan. Oh, and if you're wondering, I used a tanning mitt to apply this which I think helped to get it looking so smooth and seamless.

Maybelline Lasting Fix Make-Up Setting Spray

I've already posted a review on this last favourite on my Instagram (check it out if you haven't already read it) so I won't go on about it. Say hello đŸ‘‹đŸ» to the Maybelline Lasting Fix Make-Up Setting Spray. You can pick this up from anywhere that sells Maybelline for around $17.95 (wait till there is a 40% off sale to buy your Maybelline items ssshhh... đŸ€«). This setting spray has been likened to the Urban Decay All Nighter. Do I think it is a dupe? It's very close to it and I would be comfortable in suggesting this to anyone who is after a cheap setting spray to assist in keeping you matte throughout the day and to help your makeup stay put and not slip-slide around. I am still yet to fully test how it performs with heat, sun and sweat as its been winter since its release, but I do have a good feeling about it.

So that is it, my top 10 favourites for September. Was there anything in my favourites that you enjoy or have never seen before? What were your favourite items in September? Leave your comments below as I would love to hear what you were digging too!

Toodles 💋
